James A.R. Nafziger is the Thomas B. Stoel Professor of Law and Director of International Programs at Willamette University College of Law. Received B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Wisconsin and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. Secretary of the American Society of International Law. Honorary President of the International Association of Sports Law (IASL).

As a Scholar-in-Residence at the Rockefeller Foundation's Study Center in Bellagio, Italy, Professor Nafziger completed the first book specifically on international sports law, which is now in its second edition. He has authored or edited two other books on international and comparative sports law and many published articles in that field, among others. In 2005 served as the co-director of The Hague Academy of International Law Centre for Studies and Research.

Received the Awards for Extraordinary Contributions to the development of sports law from the American Society of Comparative Law and from the IASL.
